Moorhead Managers

Jamie Cary, center, a junior at Moorhead High School, serves as a student manager with freshman Amber Gunkel, during the school’s State Volleyball Tournament game against Waconia Thursday in St. Paul, Minn. The pair have spent the season recording statistics such as blocks, passes, sets and hits during games and also have helped with practices each day after school. They were on the junior varsity team and started working as student managers when their season ended. “It’s really fun being a part of the team,” Cary says. She is also glad to be able to “see how volleyball works at a higher level”. But it’s a big time commitment. The student managers have worked all the games, home and away, as well the the practices which ran at least two hours long. “I hope to make the team next year, but if not, it would be fun to be a student manager again,” Cary says.
